Coalition government

In democratic countries regular elections take place. The main purpose of the elections is to choose members (MPs) of parliament and various ministers and prime minister. Through elections, citizens choose their government. A party winning majority of seats forms the government. Sometimes no party wins the majority, in this case, several parties join together temporarily to form a stable government. This type of government is called a coalition government.

A Coalition government is formed through elections however it faces many difficulties time to time. The coalition government has some advantages and disadvantages.

The major advantage of coalition government is the broader spectrum of public opinion. Every party has its own individual ideologies. In coalitions, these ideologies got respect and representation. Members of the parliament representing different parties have a wide range of view in the decision-making process. The wide representations strengthen the democracy of the nation.

The advantage of a coalition government is ideal, but an unrealistic thing. In reality, the coalition governments have many drawbacks. It is often seen that due to the conflict between the parties, they are unable to reach an agreement or decision. This disagreement increases the time duration in the decision-making process. One of the greatest failures of the coalition government is instability within the coalition government. It is important to resolve disputes and conflict within the coalition government in order to protect the dignity and stability of a coalition government.
